Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is a type of PFAS that can turn up in household water supplies. In McKinnon, homeowners commonly hear about it after a private test, a question about drinking water, or when learning more about contaminants that persist in the environment. Because PFBA resists breakdown, many families prefer a treatment that reduces it across the entire house so you can feel confident about water for drinking, cooking, and showering.
PFBA may be present even when your water looks clear and tastes normal, and it can occur alongside other PFAS — so a simple taste-and-odor filter may not address the full issue. For McKinnon residents concerned about PFBA, the smartest first step is a current water analysis to identify what’s in your supply. With those results, we can recommend a whole-house system sized for your home’s needs and daily water use.
To reduce PFBA at the point where water enters your McKinnon home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is generally the most effective single-filter option. GAC works by adsorbing many organic contaminants, including numerous PFAS, as water flows through the carbon media. A correctly sized GAC tank gives the contact time needed to improve reduction and delivers treated water to every faucet, shower, and appliance in the house.
PFBA can be tougher to remove than some larger PFAS, so performance depends on carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate — not just adding a cartridge. At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house GAC systems for McKinnon households to ensure proper contact time and flow for effective treatment. Regular media replacement is important to avoid exhaustion, and if your testing finds multiple PFAS we’ll help you choose a configuration that emphasizes PFBA reduction while addressing broader PFAS concerns.
