Including filter system and high-performance PFBA filter.
PFBA is one of the PFAS compounds that can show up in household water. In Whispering Pines many homeowners first hear about it after a private water test, a utility communication, or questions about what’s in their drinking water. Because PFBA is persistent and can be difficult to address once it’s in the environment, families here often choose a treatment that reduces it throughout the house so they feel more secure about the water used for drinking, cooking, and bathing in our humid subtropical climate and hard-water area.
PFBA may be present even when water looks, smells, and tastes normal, and it can occur alongside other PFAS — so a simple taste-and-odor filter might not be enough. In Whispering Pines, the right first move is an up-to-date water analysis to understand what’s actually in your supply. From that point we size a whole-house system to your home and water use, accounting for local conditions like hard, mineral-rich groundwater that affects plumbing and treatment needs.
To reduce PFBA at the point of entry for a Whispering Pines home, a whole-house granular activated carbon (GAC) filter is typically the most effective single-filter option. GAC works by adsorbing many organic contaminants, including many PFAS, as water moves through the carbon media. A correctly sized GAC tank gives the contact time needed for improved reduction and treats every faucet, shower, and appliance throughout your house.
PFBA can be more challenging to remove than some larger PFAS, so performance depends on the carbon quality, bed depth, and flow rate — not just installing a cartridge. Mr. Pure Water designs whole-house GAC systems for Whispering Pines homes to match household demand and hard-water conditions, helping preserve proper contact time in the media. Regular media replacement keeps the carbon functioning; if your test shows multiple PFAS, we’ll help configure a system that targets PFBA while addressing broader PFAS treatment needs.
