Including filter system and high-performance PFDoA filter.
PFDoA is one of the PFAS chemicals often called a “forever chemical” because it can remain in the environment and in water for long periods. Capps homeowners may hear about PFAS in the news and wonder if related compounds could be in their own household water. Even when tap water looks clear and tastes fine, PFDoA can be present because many PFAS have no noticeable odor, taste, or color—so awareness and testing are important first steps toward protection.
PFDoA can enter sources of drinking water through industrial uses and fluorinated products, and it can travel beyond its original release point. Because PFAS behave differently than routine issues like sediment or hardness, common filters for rust and dirt usually won’t remove them. Many Capps residents choose a treatment that protects the entire home at the main water entry, so bathing, cooking, and laundry use water that’s been treated for PFAS concerns.
For PFDoA, homeowners get the best results with a whole-house system using high-quality granular activated carbon (GAC) specifically configured for PFAS reduction. Carbon media adsorbs many PFAS as water flows through the tank, and because removal depends on contact time, selecting the correct tank size and flow rate is as important as the carbon itself. Installed at the point of entry, a GAC system treats every tap in a Capps home instead of relying solely on small under-sink cartridges.
A whole-house GAC system for PFDoA is usually paired with prefiltration so sediment doesn’t prematurely coat the carbon and reduce its effectiveness. Long-term performance requires timely media replacement, since the carbon’s adsorption capacity will be used up over time. The aim is reliable PFAS reduction across all household demands—from showers to dishwashers to yard hoses. Mr. Pure Water can help Capps homeowners size and configure a whole-house carbon system focused on PFAS treatment, including PFDoA.
