Including filter system and high-performance PFDoA filter.
PFDoA is one of the PFAS often called “forever chemicals” because it can persist in the environment and in water supplies. In The Acreage many homeowners rely on private wells and may not know whether PFAS-like compounds are present even when water looks and tastes normal. Because PFDoA and similar substances usually have no noticeable taste, odor, or color, testing and targeted treatment are the reliable ways to confirm and address them.
PFDoA can reach drinking water through industrial sources and products that use fluorinated chemistry, and it can move from where it’s released to other areas. Because PFAS behave differently than common concerns like hardness or sediment—an issue many Acreage properties experience—a simple sediment cartridge won’t reliably remove them. Many residents choose point-of-entry whole-house treatment so every tap, from kitchen to shower, is covered against potential PFAS exposure.
The most effective single home filter for PFDoA is a high-quality granular activated carbon (GAC) whole-house system designed for PFAS reduction. GAC media adsorbs many PFAS compounds as water passes through the tank, and because performance depends on contact time, selecting the correct tank size and flow rate is as important as the media itself. Installed at the point where water enters a home in The Acreage, a properly sized GAC system treats every faucet without relying solely on small under-sink cartridges.
A whole-house GAC system for PFDoA is best paired with prefiltration to keep sediment—common in hard well water—off the carbon bed and preserve its capacity. Carbon media must be replaced on schedule because adsorbed PFAS eventually fill the available sites. The aim is steady reduction across household uses, from showers to irrigation spigots. Mr. Pure Water can help Acreage homeowners test their water, size a GAC whole-house system, and set up the prefiltration and maintenance plan tailored for PFAS-focused treatment.
