Including filter system and high-performance PFHxA filter.
PFHxA is one of the PFAS chemicals that can appear in drinking water at very low concentrations. Barth homeowners usually hear about it from a utility notice, local news, or a private test. Because PFHxA is persistent in the environment, many people in Barth choose to reduce their household exposure rather than only monitor it. Treating water at the whole-house level ensures every tap in your Barth home — not just the kitchen — is covered.
PFHxA won’t necessarily change the taste, smell, or look of your water, so it can be present without any obvious signs. That’s why testing is the reliable way to know what’s in your Barth water. If test results indicate a concern, treatment commonly uses adsorption media designed to capture PFAS compounds. Picking the right system also means ensuring it handles your household’s daily flow and water use so performance stays steady for showers, laundry, and all faucets.
For whole-house reduction of PFHxA in Barth homes, the single most effective filter type is a high-quality activated carbon system—usually granular activated carbon (GAC) with adequate contact time. Carbon adsorption is widely used for PFAS because the media attracts and holds these compounds as water moves through the bed. In a correctly sized whole-house GAC unit you avoid the low-flow limits of point-of-use filters, treating water throughout your Barth residence; the trick is matching tank size and carbon volume to your household’s demand so removal remains reliable.
A whole-house GAC filter is placed where water enters your Barth property so PFHxA is addressed before it reaches plumbing fixtures. Media choice, bed depth, and service flow rate matter because higher flow can shorten contact time and reduce removal. Regular media replacement is also essential, since a saturated carbon bed won’t continue to capture PFHxA effectively. Mr. Pure Water can help size and install a whole-house carbon filtration system for your Barth home and make ongoing maintenance straightforward.
