Including filter system and high-performance PFHxA filter.
PFHxA is one of the PFAS family of chemicals that can appear in drinking water at trace levels. Homeowners in Whites Landing may first hear about it from a utility notice, local reporting, or a private test. Because PFHxA is persistent in the environment, many people in our humid subtropical area choose to reduce it rather than only monitor it. Treating the whole house helps protect family members from exposure at every faucet, not just the kitchen sink.
PFHxA doesn’t usually change the taste, odor, or look of water, so it can be present without visible signs. That’s why testing is the most reliable way to know what’s in your Whites Landing supply. When results indicate elevated levels, treatment generally relies on adsorption media that capture PFAS chemicals. Picking the right system also means confirming it can meet your household’s daily flow and usage patterns so performance remains steady.
For reducing PFHxA throughout your home, the most effective single filter type is a quality activated carbon system — typically granular activated carbon (GAC) sized to provide sufficient contact time. Carbon adsorption is a common method for PFAS removal because the media attracts and holds these compounds as water flows through the bed. In a correctly sized whole-house GAC unit, your showers, laundry and all faucets receive treated water without the low-flow limits of point-of-use devices; matching tank and carbon volume to your household demand is essential to maintain consistent performance.
A whole-house GAC filter is placed at the home’s main water entry so PFHxA is reduced before water reaches plumbing and fixtures. Media type, bed depth and service flow rate all affect removal — higher flow can shorten contact time and reduce effectiveness. Regular media replacement matters too, because saturated carbon stops capturing PFHxA. Mr. Pure Water can help Whites Landing homeowners size and install a whole-house carbon filtration system that fits their home and is straightforward to service.
