Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is a member of the PFAS family, often called a “forever chemical” because it can remain in the environment for a long time. In Barrineau Park you won’t be able to see, smell, or taste PFHxS in your tap water—it normally only turns up through testing or in utility water quality reports listing individual PFAS compounds. If you’d like more control over what enters your home, installing point-of-entry treatment for the whole house is a sensible, proactive step.
PFHxS has been used in industrial and consumer applications that contained PFAS, so tiny amounts can appear in water sources and are often hard to remove with basic filters. Common solutions like pitchers or simple sediment cartridges can help with visible particles but aren’t designed to reliably lower dissolved PFAS. That’s why many homeowners in Barrineau Park choose systems that treat all water entering the house—so you don’t end up with “clean” water at one faucet and untreated water everywhere else.
The single filter type most commonly recommended for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system, particularly one using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon’s porous surface can adsorb a range of organic compounds, including certain PFAS, and a properly designed whole-house GAC unit gives the water enough contact time for PFHxS to bind. Sizing a GAC tank correctly at your main water line ensures water is treated before it reaches any tap in a Barrineau Park home.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems around real household needs—flow rate, bed depth and media volume—rather than relying on a small cartridge to do a large job. That focus matters for PFHxS because effectiveness depends on how long water contacts the carbon and how the media performs over time. We’ll match a GAC system to your Barrineau Park home’s plumbing and usage so you keep good pressure while treating PFHxS throughout the house.
