Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one of the PFAS family, often called a “forever chemical” because it can linger in the environment. In Country Club Isles you might see PFHxS listed on utility reports or test results when local agencies screen for PFAS compounds. Because PFHxS has no smell, taste, or visible sign, it usually goes unnoticed without testing — so many homeowners choose point-of-entry treatment to take control of what enters their plumbing and appliances.
PFHxS has been used in industrial applications and consumer products that contained PFAS, so trace amounts can end up in water supplies and be challenging for basic filters to remove. Pitcher filters and simple sediment cartridges are useful for particulates but aren’t engineered to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS compounds. That’s why many homeowners around Broward County prefer a whole-house solution that treats water used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry rather than relying on a single faucet filter.
The most common recommendation for PFHxS removal is a whole-house activated carbon system, particularly one using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon’s porous media can adsorb many organic contaminants, including certain PFAS, and in a whole-house setup the focus is on maximizing contact time so PFHxS molecules can bind to the carbon. A correctly sized GAC tank installed at the main line treats water before it reaches fixtures, which is important in hard-water coastal homes that already face scale and corrosion issues.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems around real household needs — flow rate, bed depth, and media volume — instead of expecting a small cartridge to do all the work. Those factors matter for PFHxS because treatment effectiveness depends on how long water contacts the carbon and how quickly the media becomes exhausted. We’ll size a GAC system for your Country Club Isles home and daily water use so you keep good pressure while treating every tap; for homeowners wanting PFHxS addressed throughout the house, a dedicated whole-house GAC filter is the practical choice.
