PFHxS is one of the PFAS chemicals often called a “forever chemical” because it can linger in the environment. Because PFHxS has been used in industrial applications and some consumer products, trace amounts can appear in water sources and aren’t easily removed by basic filters. Pitcher filters or simple sediment cartridges may catch particles but aren’t designed to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS like PFHxS.
