Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one member of the PFAS family, often called a “forever chemical” because it can linger in the environment. Garden Isles homeowners may see PFHxS listed when water tests report specific PFAS compounds, but it won’t be visible, odorous, or tastable in your tap water—only testing will reveal it. If you’d like greater control over what enters your home from every faucet, installing point-of-entry treatment is a sensible step.
PFHxS has been used in some industrial processes and products containing PFAS, so it can appear in water supplies at low levels and can be tough to remove with simple filters. Pitcher filters or basic sediment cartridges help with particles, but they typically won’t reliably reduce dissolved PFAS like PFHxS. That’s why many homeowners in the Broward County area prefer a solution that treats all the water used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry rather than just one faucet.
The most commonly recommended single filter for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system that uses high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon is effective at adsorbing many organic contaminants, including certain PFAS, because of its porous surface. For Garden Isles properties a correctly sized GAC tank installed at the main water line provides the contact time PFHxS needs to bind to the carbon before water reaches taps throughout your home.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems around real household conditions—flow rate, bed depth, and media volume matter more than a small cartridge when treating PFHxS. In coastal Garden Isles, where warm, humid air and moderate water hardness can affect plumbing and appliances, matching system size to your household demand ensures consistent filtration without losing water pressure. If you want PFHxS addressed housewide, a dedicated whole-house GAC filter sized for your home is the practical, effective choice.
