Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one member of the PFAS family often called a “forever chemical” because it can linger in the environment. In Gaskins Still homeowners may see PFHxS listed when utilities or water reports break out individual PFAS compounds. You won’t detect PFHxS by taste, smell, or sight, so testing or point-of-entry treatment is the only reliable way to know what’s coming into your house — and a whole-house system gives you control at every tap.
PFHxS has ties to industrial uses and products that contained PFAS, which means it can be present in water sources at low concentrations and isn’t easily removed by basic filters. Common pitcher filters or simple sediment cartridges in Gaskins Still handle particulates but aren’t built to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS. That’s why many local homeowners choose a system that treats all the water used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry instead of relying on a single faucet solution.
The most commonly recommended option for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon is effective for many organic contaminants because its porous surface can adsorb compounds like certain PFAS. In a whole-house installation in Gaskins Still, the important factor is allowing enough contact time between the water and the carbon so PFHxS can bind to the media — which means a properly sized GAC tank at the main line before water reaches any tap.
Mr. Pure Water designs whole-house carbon systems around real home use in Gaskins Still, focusing on flow rate, bed depth, and media volume rather than small cartridges doing big jobs. That matters for PFHxS removal because performance depends on how long water interacts with the carbon and how quickly the media loads up. We’ll size the GAC system to your household flow and plumbing so you keep good pressure while treating water throughout the house.
