Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one of the PFAS chemicals often called a “forever chemical” because it lingers in the environment. In Hawley Heights you won’t detect PFHxS by smell, taste, or sight — it’s only revealed through testing or utility water-quality reports that list specific PFAS compounds. For local homeowners who want more control over what enters their plumbing, installing point-of-entry treatment is a sensible way to protect all taps in the house.
PFHxS has been used in industrial and consumer products containing PFAS, so trace amounts can appear in water sources and are not easily removed by basic filters. Simple pitcher filters or sediment cartridges may capture visible particles but aren’t engineered to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS. That’s why many Hawley Heights homeowners choose a whole-house solution — it treats water used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry instead of cleaning only a single faucet.
The most commonly recommended single option for PFHxS removal is a whole-house activated carbon system using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Carbon’s porous surface can adsorb many organic contaminants, including certain PFAS, and a properly sized GAC tank installed at the main line gives the water enough contact time for PFHxS to bind. For homes in Hawley Heights, a correctly sized whole-house GAC unit treats water before it reaches any fixture.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems with Hawley Heights conditions in mind, focusing on flow rate, bed depth, and media volume rather than relying on a small cartridge to do a big job. Performance for PFHxS depends on water contact time with the carbon and how quickly the media loads, so we size systems to match your household usage and plumbing to maintain pressure and steady filtration. If you want PFHxS addressed across your home, a dedicated whole-house GAC system is the practical, effective choice.
