Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one member of the PFAS family, often called a “forever chemical” because it can persist for a long time in the environment. Hillsboro Beach homeowners may see PFHxS mentioned when utility reports or independent tests list individual PFAS compounds. Because PFHxS has no taste, smell, or color, it won’t give any obvious warning signs in your tap water — testing or treatment is the only way to know. If you want to protect every faucet in your home, a point-of-entry (whole-house) system is a sensible step.
Because PFHxS has ties to industrial and consumer PFAS uses, it can be present in water sources at low concentrations and isn’t always removed by basic filters. Simple pitcher filters or sediment cartridges can help with taste, odor, and particles, but they aren’t designed to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS. Many homeowners in Broward County prefer a whole-house solution so drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry all receive the same level of treatment instead of only having a single “clean” faucet.
The single filter type most commonly recommended for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon’s porous surface can adsorb many organic compounds, including certain PFAS, and a properly sized GAC tank at the main line gives the contact time needed for PFHxS to bind. Installed before water reaches any fixture, a whole-house GAC system treats water for the entire home rather than just one point of use.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems for real Hillsboro Beach conditions — accounting for hard South Florida water that can cause mineral scale, the home’s flow rates, bed depth, and media volume. PFHxS removal depends on sufficient contact time and media capacity, so we size systems to your household demand and plumbing to maintain good pressure while extending media life. When you want PFHxS addressed throughout the house, a dedicated whole-house GAC filter is the practical, reliable choice.
