Because PFHxS has industrial ties and shows up among PFAS contaminants, it can be present in water in dissolved form and isn’t easily removed by basic filters. Pitcher units, faucet cartridges, or simple sediment filters may capture particles but aren’t designed to reliably lower dissolved PFAS like PFHxS. That’s why many Homestead Base homeowners choose a system that treats all water used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry—so you don’t end up with “clean water at one faucet” while the rest of the house remains untreated.
The filter type most often recommended for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC).
