Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one member of the PFAS family, sometimes called a “forever chemical” because it can remain in the environment for long periods. In Lois, homeowners may see PFHxS mentioned on utility reports or when local testing covers individual PFAS compounds. You won’t be able to detect PFHxS by smell, taste, or sight, so testing or treatment is the only way to know whether it’s in your water; for many Lois residents, a point-of-entry (whole-house) solution gives better control over what reaches every faucet.
Because PFHxS has been linked to industrial uses and products containing PFAS, it can appear in water sources at low concentrations and isn’t easily removed by simple filters. Common pitcher filters or basic sediment cartridges can help with particles and tastes but are not designed to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS like PFHxS. That is why many Lois homeowners opt for a system that treats all the water used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry to avoid having “clean water” at only one faucet.
The filter type most often recommended for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon’s porous surface can adsorb many organic compounds, including certain PFAS, and in a whole-house arrangement the water spends more contact time with the media. Installed at the main line, a properly sized GAC tank gives PFHxS a better chance to bind before the water reaches taps throughout a Lois home.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems around real household use—considering flow rate, carbon bed depth, and media volume rather than relying on a small cartridge to handle a big job. That approach matters for PFHxS because effectiveness depends on how long water contacts the carbon and how the media loads over time. We’ll size and place the GAC tank to match your Lois plumbing and daily water use so you maintain pressure while getting consistent filtration across the house.
