Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one of the PFAS compounds often called a “forever chemical” because it can persist in the environment. In Mims and the surrounding Space Coast area you might hear PFHxS mentioned when utilities or private well owners review PFAS testing or water-quality reports. Because PFHxS has no taste, smell, or color, it usually goes undetected without testing, so many homeowners choose point-of-entry treatment to gain control over what enters their plumbing.
PFHxS has been used in industrial and consumer applications, and when traces reach water sources they can be challenging for basic filters to remove. Pitcher filters or simple sediment cartridges may catch visible particles or iron and sulfur that often affect well water here, but they aren’t designed to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS like PFHxS. That’s why many Brevard County homeowners opt for a whole-house solution that treats water used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry rather than relying on a single faucet filter.
The single filter type most commonly recommended for removing PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system, typically using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon adsorbs many organic compounds, including certain PFAS, and in a whole-house installation the important factor is contact time—giving the water enough time in the carbon bed to allow PFHxS to bind. A correctly sized GAC tank installed at the main line treats all water before it reaches taps across your Mims home.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems with real Mims homes in mind, accounting for hard water, common well issues like mineral and iron/sulfur odors, flow rate, bed depth, and media volume instead of relying on a small cartridge. PFHxS performance depends on how long water contacts the carbon and how quickly the media loads, so we size systems to match your household usage and plumbing to maintain pressure and steady filtration—making a dedicated whole-house GAC filter the practical choice for treating PFHxS throughout the house.
