Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one of the PFAS chemicals people often call “forever chemicals” because it can remain in the environment for a long time. In Mount Pleasant homeowners may see PFHxS listed alongside other PFAS when water testing or consumer confidence reports are published. You won’t detect PFHxS by sight, smell, or taste, so testing and targeted treatment are the only reliable ways to know if it’s present — and installing point-of-entry protection is a sensible way to control what enters your home.
Because PFHxS has been used in industrial and consumer products containing PFAS, it can be challenging to remove with basic filters. Common pitcher filters or simple sediment cartridges can help with visible particles but aren’t designed to reliably remove dissolved PFAS like PFHxS. That’s why many Mount Pleasant residents choose a whole-house solution so every faucet, shower and appliance gets treated instead of relying on a single point-of-use device.
The single filter type most often recommended for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon is widely used for reducing PFAS because its porous surface can adsorb many organic contaminants, including certain PFAS compounds. In a whole-house installation the important factor is contact time — giving Mount Pleasant’s water enough flow through the carbon bed so PFHxS has the opportunity to bind before reaching taps.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house GAC systems around how real homes in Mount Pleasant use water, focusing on flow rate, bed depth and media volume instead of relying on a small cartridge to do a big job. PFHxS removal depends on how long water contacts the carbon and how the media ages under regular use; we size systems to maintain pressure and consistent filtration across your plumbing. If you want PFHxS addressed throughout your Mount Pleasant house, a dedicated whole-house GAC filter is the practical, effective choice.
