Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one of the PFAS chemicals often called a “forever chemical” because it doesn’t break down easily in the environment. North Merritt Island homeowners may see PFHxS listed when municipal or private well water is tested or when water quality reports break out specific PFAS compounds. Because PFHxS has no taste, smell, or color, it typically goes unnoticed without testing, so many space coast residents choose point-of-entry treatment to take control of what enters their homes.
PFHxS has been used in industrial and consumer applications that can lead to trace levels in water, and simple options like pitchers or basic sediment cartridges aren’t designed to reduce dissolved PFAS reliably. On North Merritt Island, where households may be on municipal supply or private wells and where hard water can increase scale in plumbing and heaters, many homeowners prefer a treatment that protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry water throughout the house rather than cleaning just a single faucet.
The most commonly recommended single solution for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Carbon’s porous structure can adsorb many organic contaminants, including some PFAS, and in a whole-house setup it’s important to provide sufficient contact time so PFHxS can bind to the media. A correctly sized GAC tank installed at the main line treats all water before it reaches taps and appliances in homes around North Merritt Island and Brevard County.
Mr. Pure Water designs whole-house carbon systems for real homes on North Merritt Island, focusing on flow rate, bed depth, and media volume rather than relying on an undersized cartridge. That approach matters for PFHxS because effectiveness depends on contact time and how quickly the carbon loads up over time. We’ll size the GAC system to your household use and plumbing so you get consistent filtration without losing pressure — a straightforward way to address PFHxS across your entire home.
