Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one of the PFAS chemicals often called “forever chemicals” because it can persist in the environment. Ocean City homeowners may see PFHxS listed when utilities or water reports test for PFAS compounds. You won’t be able to detect PFHxS by smell, taste, or sight, so testing is the only reliable way to know if it’s present; if you want more control over what enters your house, a point-of-entry (whole-house) system is a sensible next step.
Because PFHxS has been used in industrial products and can be hard to remove with basic treatments, small pitchers or simple sediment filters aren’t enough to reliably lower dissolved PFAS in household water. Many Ocean City residents prefer a solution that treats all water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry so you’re not left with “clean water at one faucet” while other taps remain untreated.
The most commonly recommended single filter for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system, typically using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon’s porous media can adsorb many organic compounds, including certain PFAS, and in a whole-house configuration it’s important to provide enough contact time between the water and the carbon so PFHxS has a better chance to bind; a properly sized GAC tank on the main water line treats the water before it reaches any tap in your Ocean City home.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems around real-world factors—flow rate, bed depth, and media volume—not tiny cartridges doing oversized work. That approach matters for PFHxS because system performance depends on how long water interacts with the carbon and how media loading progresses over time. We’ll size and position a GAC system to match your Ocean City plumbing and household use so you get consistent filtration without losing pressure; for treating PFHxS throughout the house, a dedicated whole-house GAC filter is the practical choice.
