Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one member of the PFAS family often called a “forever chemical” because it lingers in the environment. In Palm Shadows you won’t be able to see, taste, or smell PFHxS in your tap water, so it typically only shows up when utilities or private tests look for individual PFAS compounds. If you’d like more certainty about what’s entering your home, installing point-of-entry treatment for every faucet is a sensible way to take control.
PFHxS has been used in some industrial and consumer applications, so trace amounts can appear in source waters and be tough to remove with basic filters. Simple pitcher filters or sediment cartridges may cut particles and visible debris—especially after heavy summer rains common here—but they aren’t designed to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS. That’s why many Palm Shadows homeowners choose a system that treats all household water instead of relying on a single drinking-water device.
The single filter type most often recommended for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon’s porous surface can adsorb many organic contaminants, including certain PFAS, and a properly sized GAC tank at the main service line gives the water the contact time needed for PFHxS to bind to the media before it reaches any tap.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems around real usage and local conditions in Palm Shadows—considering flow rates, bed depth, and media volume rather than trusting a small cartridge to do the work. In our humid subtropical climate, heavy summer runoff can increase organics and sediment, so correct sizing and media selection help maintain performance and pressure as the GAC works to reduce PFHxS throughout the home.
