Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one of the PFAS chemicals people sometimes call a “forever chemical” because it can persist in the environment. Rosedale homeowners may see PFHxS listed when utility reports or independent tests break out individual PFAS compounds. You won’t be able to detect PFHxS by sight, smell, or taste—testing is the only reliable way to know—so many local residents choose point-of-entry treatment to gain more control over the water that enters their homes.
Because PFHxS has been used in certain industrial and consumer products, it can sometimes be present at low levels in drinking water and is not easily removed by basic filters. Common pitcher filters or simple sediment cartridges used in Rosedale will capture particles but aren’t designed to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS. That’s why many homeowners prefer a whole-house solution that treats water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry rather than cleaning only a single faucet.
The single filter type most often recommended for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system, particularly a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) tank. Activated carbon is commonly used to reduce PFAS because its porous surface can adsorb many organic compounds, including some PFAS like PFHxS. In a whole-house configuration you want sufficient contact time between Rosedale’s water and the carbon so PFHxS has a better chance to bind—properly sizing the GAC tank at the main line is key to treating water before it reaches any fixture.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house GAC systems around real household needs—flow rate, bed depth, and media volume—rather than relying on a small cartridge to handle a large job. For PFHxS, performance depends on how long water contacts the carbon and how the media loads over time, so we size systems to match your Rosedale home’s plumbing and usage to maintain pressure and steady filtration. When you want PFHxS addressed throughout the house, a dedicated whole-house GAC filter is the practical, effective option.
