Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one member of the PFAS family, often called a “forever chemical” because it stays in the environment for a long time. Shamrock homeowners may see PFHxS listed when water tests or annual reports break out individual PFAS compounds. You won’t detect PFHxS by smell, taste, or sight, so testing or a point-of-entry treatment is the only reliable way to know what’s in your household water and take control at the main line.
Because PFHxS has been used in some industrial and consumer applications, traces can end up in water and often aren’t addressed by basic filters. Simple pitchers or sediment cartridges may catch particles but aren’t built to consistently reduce dissolved PFAS like PFHxS. Many Shamrock residents prefer a system that treats all household water—drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry—so you don’t have “clean” water at just one faucet.
The most commonly recommended option for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system, typically using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon’s porous media can adsorb a range of organic compounds, including certain PFAS, and in a whole-house installation the important factor is contact time—giving the water enough opportunity to interact with the carbon so PFHxS can bind. A correctly sized GAC tank on the main water line treats water before it reaches any tap in your Shamrock home.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems around real household needs—flow rate, bed depth and sufficient media volume—not around a tiny cartridge doing a big job. That approach matters for PFHxS control because performance depends on how long water contacts the carbon and how quickly the media loads. We’ll size a GAC tank to match your Shamrock plumbing and water use so you maintain pressure while getting consistent filtration throughout the house.
