Including filter system and high-performance PFHxS filter.
PFHxS is one member of the PFAS family often called “forever chemicals” because they can linger in the environment. In Skipper, homeowners may encounter PFHxS when local testing or water quality reports list individual PFAS compounds. You won’t be able to see, smell, or taste PFHxS in your tap water, so testing is the only way to know it’s present; if you want more control over what enters your home, a point-of-entry (whole-house) treatment is a practical option.
Because PFHxS has ties to industrial uses and some PFAS-containing products, it can appear in water sources at low concentrations and isn’t easily handled by basic filters. Small pitcher filters or simple sediment cartridges may capture particles but are not designed to reliably reduce dissolved PFAS like PFHxS. Many Skipper homeowners therefore prefer a solution that treats all household water—for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry—so you’re not left with “clean water at one faucet” but inconsistent protection elsewhere.
The single filter type most commonly recommended for PFHxS is a whole-house activated carbon system, particularly one using high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC). Activated carbon is widely used to reduce PFAS because its porous surfaces can adsorb many organic compounds, including some PFAS. In a whole-house configuration the important factor is contact time—giving water enough exposure to the carbon so PFHxS can bind—so a properly sized GAC tank installed at the main line treats water before it reaches any tap in your Skipper home.
At Mr. Pure Water we design whole-house carbon systems around real household needs—flow rate, bed depth, and media volume—rather than expecting a small cartridge to do a large job. That approach matters for PFHxS removal because performance depends on how long water contacts the carbon and how quickly the media becomes loaded. We’ll size and match a GAC system to your Skipper plumbing and water use so you maintain good pressure while treating every faucet; for addressing PFHxS throughout the home, a dedicated whole-house GAC filter is a straightforward, effective choice.
