Including filter system and high-performance PFMBA filter.
PFMBA is a type of PFAS that can enter drinking water as a result of industrial uses or from the breakdown of other fluorinated compounds. It resists natural breakdown, so trace amounts can persist in sources that supply homes. Because PFMBA doesn’t always change taste, smell, or appearance, Muse homeowners—many of whom rely on private wells with varying hardness and iron—won’t necessarily notice it without testing. The only reliable way to know what’s in your water is to get it tested and review the results with a clear plan.
If your water test shows elevated PFMBA, a simple, whole-home strategy can offer peace of mind across every tap. Single-point solutions like pitchers or faucet filters may help in one location but won’t protect showers, laundry, or the rest of your plumbing; many of those products aren’t intended for PFAS removal. A whole-house system treats incoming water before it reaches fixtures, giving Muse families consistent treatment throughout their home and avoiding changes to daily routines in a humid subtropical climate.
For PFMBA, the most effective whole-house option is an activated carbon system using high-quality media and extended contact time. Because PFMBA is a short-chain PFAS, it can be more difficult to capture than longer-chain types, so details like media quality, bed depth, and flow rate are important. A correctly sized carbon tank slows the water enough for better adsorption compared with small cartridge filters, and in a whole-house configuration this treatment protects every fixture in a Muse home.
Mr. Pure Water’s whole-house activated carbon systems are sized for your household’s water use so the media and flow rate work together to remove contaminants like PFMBA. In Muse, where many properties use private wells and water hardness can be moderate and variable, we pair filtration choices with testing and an ongoing maintenance plan so the system keeps performing. The result is consistent, treated water at every faucet and shower without relying on multiple small filters around the house.
