Including filter system and high-performance PFMBA filter.
PFMBA is one of the PFAS family of chemicals that can enter drinking water through industrial uses and the gradual breakdown of other fluorinated compounds. It’s persistent in the environment, so trace amounts can remain in water supplies and often won’t change taste, smell, or clarity. Vilas homeowners won’t be able to spot PFMBA without a proper laboratory analysis, so accurate water testing and understandable results are the first steps toward knowing what’s in your pipes.
If your water test in Vilas shows elevated PFMBA, most people want a single, reliable way to lower it throughout their house. Small point-of-use pitchers and faucet filters can offer some reduction, but they only protect the treated tap and aren’t always engineered for PFAS removal. A whole-house system treats incoming water so kitchens, bathrooms, laundry and showers all receive the same filtered water, making it easier for families to maintain daily routines without swapping filters at every outlet.
For removing PFMBA at the whole-house level, the most effective option is an activated carbon system using high-quality carbon media with extended contact time. Because PFMBA is a shorter-chain PFAS, it can be more challenging to capture than some longer-chain variants, so system design matters. A correctly sized carbon tank slows flow and increases contact between your Vilas water and the media, improving reduction performance compared with small cartridge filters; this treatment protects every fixture as water enters your home.
Mr. Pure Water’s whole-house activated carbon systems are configured to match your household water use in Vilas so the media and flow rate work together effectively. We size systems so the carbon isn’t rushed, and we encourage pairing any filtration choice with pre- and post-install testing plus a maintenance plan. That approach delivers more consistent, cleaner water at every tap without relying on multiple point-of-use units scattered around the house.
