Including filter system and high-performance PFMPA filter.
PFMPA is one of the PFAS chemicals that can move through soil and water and persist for a long time, so it may appear in drinking water without changing taste, smell, or color. If a lab report mentions PFMPA, Fidelis homeowners often want straightforward guidance about what that means for daily use. Taking a whole-house approach treats water at the point it enters your home, helping reduce exposure when you shower, wash clothes, cook, or use water elsewhere around the house—not just at the kitchen tap.
Tap water that seems clear can still contain trace contaminants, and PFMPA generally won’t be removed by a basic sediment or particulate filter. Boiling doesn’t reliably get rid of PFAS and can even concentrate some contaminants as water evaporates, so it’s not a solution for PFMPA. Because PFMPA is part of the larger PFAS group, many Fidelis residents choose treatments designed for consistent long-term reduction so bathing, laundry, and cooking water are all addressed.
A high-quality activated carbon filter is commonly the single most effective whole-house option for reducing PFMPA at the point of entry. Carbon media adsorbs many organic contaminants as water flows through, making it suitable for chemicals that simple screens won’t capture. Installed as a whole-house system in Fidelis, the filter treats water before it reaches plumbing so every faucet, shower, and appliance benefits. Proper performance depends on ensuring sufficient carbon volume and contact time to support PFAS reduction rather than only improving taste.
Because PFMPA tends to be smaller and more mobile than some long-chain PFAS compounds, choosing carbon media formulated for PFAS and sizing the system to your home’s flow and daily usage is important. A correctly sized whole-house carbon system also uses prefiltration when needed so sediment won’t foul the media and reduce contact time. Like all adsorption filters, the carbon must be replaced on schedule to avoid exhaustion. Mr. Pure Water can help Fidelis homeowners pick and size a whole-house carbon system based on your water test and household water needs.
