Including filter system and high-performance PFMPA filter.
PFMPA is a PFAS compound that can persist in the environment and reach household water supplies over time. Because many PFAS don’t change taste, smell, or appearance, homeowners in New Home may not notice them without lab testing. If your water report shows PFMPA, it’s understandable to want clear, practical next steps for protecting your family. A whole-house system treats water at the point it enters your New Home property, addressing exposure from showers, laundry, and all faucets—not just the kitchen sink.
Trace contaminants like PFMPA can be present even when water seems clean, and standard sediment filters typically won’t remove it. Boiling isn’t a dependable solution for PFAS and can even concentrate some contaminants as water evaporates. Since PFMPA belongs to the broader PFAS family, many New Home homeowners prefer treatment options that reliably reduce low-level contaminants over time. The aim is simple: lower PFMPA coming into your house so water used for bathing, cooking, and cleaning is treated consistently.
For PFMPA, a high-quality activated carbon whole-house filter is generally the single most effective point-of-entry option. Carbon media adsorbs many organic chemicals as water flows through, making it a common choice for contaminants that resist basic screening. Installed at the main line into your New Home property, this approach protects every faucet, shower, and appliance. Proper system design emphasizes sufficient carbon volume and contact time specifically for PFAS reduction, not just for improving taste.
Because PFMPA is a smaller, more mobile PFAS, performance hinges on choosing carbon media formulated for PFAS and sizing the system to your New Home household’s flow and daily use. A whole-house carbon system typically includes prefiltration to prevent sediment from fouling the media and shortening contact time. Carbon must be replaced on schedule so it doesn’t become exhausted and lose effectiveness. Mr. Pure Water can assess your water test and help specify a PFMPA-focused whole-house carbon system matched to your home’s needs.
