Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS compounds that can show up in drinking water and it breaks down very slowly in the environment. Because it persists, small releases over time may lead to its continued presence in a water supply. Andytown residents most often hear about PFOS from local water reports, news, or private testing. If you’re worried, start by confirming what’s in your tap water and then choosing treatment specifically designed for PFAS and PFOS removal.
PFOS won’t usually change the taste, smell, or appearance of water, so you can’t rely on your senses to know whether it’s present. It’s commonly treated as a long-term exposure issue rather than an immediate nuisance. In Andytown — where water sources and hardness can vary between county utilities and private wells — treating water at the point it enters your home ensures drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry are all covered.
The single most effective whole-house option for reducing PFOS is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a large internal surface area as water flows through. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than typical taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, bed depth, and proper flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can protect every fixture without needing multiple under-sink filters.
A whole-house GAC filter is installed on the main water line so all faucets in your Andytown home get treated water; it should be sized for your peak flow and maintained with timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can help recommend a carbon configuration that fits your plumbing and usage and is appropriate for PFOS concerns. For added assurance, you can have water tested before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance.
