Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water and the environment for a very long time. Because it breaks down slowly, small amounts released nearby can remain in a water supply over time. Argyle homeowners most commonly hear about PFOS from local testing, news, or a private home water analysis. If you’re worried, the best next step is to confirm what’s in your water and select a treatment designed specifically for PFAS like PFOS.
PFOS doesn’t affect taste or smell the way chlorine or other nuisance contaminants do, so you usually can’t detect it at the tap. That makes it hard to judge risk by appearance alone, and it’s generally viewed as a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate aesthetic problem. In Argyle homes a sensible strategy is whole-house treatment at the main water line so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all benefit from the reduction.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single-filter solution is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS/PFOS removal. GAC reduces PFOS by adsorbing the compound onto its extensive internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is more difficult to remove than common taste-and-odor issues, media quality, bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized GAC whole-house system can protect every fixture without relying on several under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the mainline so every faucet in your Argyle home receives treated water; sizing to peak household flow and timely media changeouts keep PFOS reduction consistent. Mr. Pure Water can help specify a carbon configuration matched to your plumbing and water use for PFOS control. If you’d like extra assurance, arrange periodic testing before and after installation to confirm the system’s ongoing performance.
