Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one member of the PFAS family that can persist in the environment and sometimes shows up in drinking water. Because it breaks down very slowly, small inputs can remain in a system for a long time. Bayview homeowners typically learn about PFOS from municipal reports, local news, or private lab tests; if you’re worried, the next sensible step is to confirm what’s in your water and choose treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS won’t change the way your water looks or smells the way chlorine can, so you can’t rely on taste or odor to know whether it’s present. That’s why many families around Bayview prefer addressing it as a long-term exposure issue rather than waiting for obvious signs. Treating water at the point of entry ensures the whole house—drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry—gets the same protection.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single option is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto its extensive internal surface as water moves through the media. Because PFOS is harder to remove than many taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, bed depth and correct flow rates are important; a properly sized whole-house GAC system can protect every fixture without relying on multiple point-of-use units.
A whole-house GAC filter is fitted to the main water line so every tap in your Bayview home receives treated water; it should be sized for peak household flow and serviced with timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can help select a carbon configuration matched to PFOS concerns and your plumbing, and we recommend periodic before-and-after testing to confirm ongoing performance.
