Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in water and other parts of the environment for many years. Because it resists natural breakdown, small amounts introduced to a supply can remain present over time. Betts homeowners typically hear about PFOS from local water reports, news stories, or a private tap test; if you’re worried, the next sensible steps are confirming what’s in your water and selecting a treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
Unlike chlorine or other taste-and-odor problems, PFOS usually has no color or smell, so you can’t rely on appearance to judge whether it’s in your water. Because it’s primarily a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate nuisance, many Betts residents prefer to address it at the main water entry point so drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry are all treated. That whole-home approach gives broader peace of mind than fixing a single faucet.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter type is high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) formulated for PFAS removal. GAC captures PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s extensive internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS can be tougher to remove than routine taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon media, adequate bed depth, and maintaining proper flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can protect every tap in your Betts home without needing multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC unit is installed on the main service line so every faucet and fixture in your Betts residence receives treated water; sizing it for your household’s peak flow and performing timely media changeouts keeps PFOS reduction consistent. Mr. Pure Water can help recommend a whole-house carbon setup that matches your plumbing and usage and targets PFOS, and follow-up testing before and after installation can confirm continued performance.
