Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one variety of PFAS that can persist in the environment and remain in drinking water for long periods. Because it breaks down very slowly, small releases can lead to lasting presence in a supply. Bithlo homeowners usually hear about PFOS from local water quality reports, neighborhood testing, or news stories; if you’re worried, the practical next steps are confirming what’s in your tap water and selecting treatment designed specifically for PFAS.
PFOS won’t change the look, smell, or taste of your water like chlorine does, so it’s not something you can judge by eye or nose. That’s why it’s considered more of a long-term exposure issue than an immediate nuisance. For residents across Bithlo and nearby Orange County communities — whether you’re on a municipal line or a private well where hardness and mineral content can vary — treating water at the point it enters your home gives protection for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry.
The single most effective whole-house option for PFOS removal is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a vast internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than simple taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon media, bed depth, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can treat all fixtures in a Bithlo home without needing numerous under-sink filters.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main service line so every faucet and appliance receives treated water; for reliable PFOS reduction it must match your home’s peak flow and be maintained with timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can help select a carbon configuration suited to PFAS reduction and to Bithlo plumbing and household use, and we recommend periodic before-and-after testing to confirm the system continues to perform.
