Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is a member of the PFAS family that can persist in the environment for years and resist natural breakdown. Because of that persistence, small inputs over time can mean the compound remains present in a water supply. Boca West homeowners commonly first hear about PFOS from municipal water reports, neighborhood conversation, or a private home test. If you’re worried, start by confirming what your water contains and then choose a treatment that targets PFAS compounds specifically.
PFOS does not usually affect the smell or appearance of water the way chlorine or other nuisance contaminants do, so you can’t rely on sight or scent to judge whether it’s present. Because it’s framed as a long-term exposure issue, many families prefer to address it at the main line so treated water reaches drinking taps, the kitchen, bathrooms and even washing machines. In Boca West — where municipal water tends to be hard and scale is a common concern — whole-house treatment also helps protect plumbing and appliances from buildup.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter type is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto an extensive internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS is more difficult to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor compounds, the quality of the carbon, adequate bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit treats the entire home without needing multiple under-sink filters.
A whole-house GAC filter is plumbed to the main water line so every faucet and fixture in your Boca West home receives treated water; sizing it for your peak flow and changing media on schedule maintains PFOS reduction. Mr. Pure Water can help recommend a carbon configuration that fits your home’s plumbing, usage and the hard-water conditions common in Palm Beach County. If you’d like extra assurance, we can arrange periodic before-and-after testing to confirm the system’s ongoing performance.
