Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one form of PFAS that can persist in the environment and show up in drinking water. Because it breaks down slowly, small releases over time may lead to continued presence in a supply. Boyd homeowners commonly hear about PFOS through local water quality reports, news, or private testing, and the next sensible step is confirming what’s in your own well or municipal water and picking a treatment engineered for PFAS removal.
PFOS won’t typically change the taste, smell, or appearance of your water, so you can’t rely on senses to judge whether it’s present. That’s why many Boyd residents treat water at the point it enters the house — a whole-house approach protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry rather than only addressing one faucet.
The most effective single filter for whole-house PFOS reduction is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is more difficult to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, bed depth and proper flow rates are important — a correctly sized whole-house GAC system can treat all Boyd household taps without relying on multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC unit mounts on your main water line so every fixture in your Boyd home receives treated water; sizing to peak flow and regular media changeouts keep PFOS reduction steady. Mr. Pure Water can help recommend a carbon configuration matched to your home’s plumbing and usage, and periodic before-and-after testing gives added assurance the system continues to perform.
