Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in the environment and sometimes shows up in drinking water. Because it breaks down very slowly, even small, repeated sources can lead to ongoing presence in a system. In Briny Breezes, many people first hear about PFOS through local testing, news, or their water quality report — and the sensible next step is to confirm what’s in your own supply and choose a treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS doesn’t usually affect taste or smell the way chlorine does, so you can’t rely on appearance or odor to know whether it’s present. That’s why it’s treated as a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate nuisance. In coastal Palm Beach County homes like those in Briny Breezes, the practical choice is whole-house treatment at the main line so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all benefit from reduced PFOS levels.
For whole-house removal of PFOS, the best single filter type is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) media formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing the compound onto a very large internal surface as water flows through the bed. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor contaminants, the effectiveness depends on media quality, adequate bed depth, and correct flow rates — all important when fitting a system for a hard-water, humid subtropical area like Palm Beach County.
A whole-house GAC system is mounted on the main service line so every faucet and appliance in your Briny Breezes home gets treated water; proper sizing for peak flow and regular media changeouts keeps PFOS reduction steady. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration suited to PFOS and your home’s plumbing, and periodic before-and-after testing gives extra assurance that the system is performing as expected.
