Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water because it resists breaking down in the environment. Over time even small releases can lead to a continuing presence in a supply, which is why many Carver Heights homeowners first hear about PFOS through local water reports, news, or a home test. If you’re worried, start by confirming what’s in your water with testing, then choose treatment that specifically targets PFAS and PFOS.
PFOS won’t change the look or smell of your water the way chlorine or iron might, so it’s hard to detect at the tap. Because it’s mainly a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate nuisance, a sensible fix for Carver Heights residents is to treat water at the point it enters your home so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry are all covered.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS and other PFAS, the most effective single solution is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large internal surface as water flows through; because PFOS is tougher to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit treats the entire Carver Heights home without relying on multiple under-sink devices.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main service line so every fixture gets treated water; systems should be sized for your household’s peak flow and maintained with timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can suggest a carbon configuration tailored for PFOS that fits Carver Heights plumbing and usage patterns, and periodic before-and-after testing gives extra assurance the system is performing as expected.
