Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in the environment and sometimes show up in drinking water. Because it resists breaking down, small amounts released over time may remain in a water source. Cornwell homeowners typically hear about PFOS from water testing, local reports, or news coverage; if you’re worried, start by testing your water and then choose treatment designed specifically for PFAS removal.
PFOS doesn’t change the taste, smell, or appearance of water the way chlorine or sulfur can, so you can’t rely on your senses to detect it. That’s why many residents in Cornwell take a prevention-minded approach and address PFOS as a long-term exposure concern. Treating the water at the main entry to your house ensures drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all benefit from the same reduction.
For whole-house PFOS treatment, the most effective single option is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS is tougher to remove than many taste-and-odor issues, media quality, bed depth and correct flow rates are important; a properly sized whole-house GAC system can protect the entire Cornwell home without needing several under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is plumbed on the main water line so every faucet gets treated water; size it for your peak demand and change the media on schedule to maintain PFOS reduction. Mr. Pure Water can help recommend a carbon configuration that fits Cornwell homes and your plumbing, and we suggest confirming hardness or any iron/sulfur issues with a recent water test for your address before installing; periodic before-and-after testing also verifies ongoing performance.
