Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can show up in drinking water and it resists breaking down, so once introduced it can remain in a source for a long time. Because of that persistence, small amounts over time may lead to continued presence in a supply. Homeowners in Cypress Quarters typically hear about PFOS from local water reports, news stories, or private testing. If you’re worried, a sensible first step is to confirm your home's water quality and choose treatment that specifically targets PFAS like PFOS.
PFOS doesn’t change the taste or smell the way chlorine or other nuisance contaminants do, so you can’t rely on sight or scent to know whether it’s present in your tap water. It’s generally treated as a long-term exposure issue rather than an immediate nuisance — especially in humid subtropical places like Cypress Quarters where seasonal runoff can affect source water. Treating water at the point it enters your home ensures reductions apply to drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry.
For reducing PFOS throughout your house, high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) formulated for PFAS is the single most effective whole-house option. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is more difficult to remove than typical taste-and-odor compounds, the effectiveness depends on media quality, sufficient bed depth, and proper flow rates. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can treat all fixtures without needing multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is mounted on the main water line so every faucet and appliance in your Cypress Quarters home receives treated water; sizing it for peak household flow and keeping media changeouts on schedule maintains consistent PFOS reduction. Mr. Pure Water can help specify a carbon configuration built for PFOS that fits your plumbing and usage patterns, and periodic before-and-after testing provides added assurance the system is performing.
