Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one member of the PFAS family that can persist in water supplies because it breaks down very slowly. Small, ongoing sources can allow PFOS to remain in plumbing and groundwater over long periods. In Dills many homeowners first hear about PFOS from local testing, utility reports, or media; if you’re worried, the next step is confirming contaminants in your water and choosing a treatment that targets PFAS specifically.
PFOS doesn’t usually affect water’s appearance or smell the way chlorine or mineral hardness do, so you can’t rely on taste or clarity to detect it at your tap. Because the concern is typically long-term exposure rather than an immediate nuisance, many Dills families choose to protect every use of water in the home. Treating water at the main service line ensures drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all receive the same reduced PFOS levels.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single option is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system designed specifically for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a large internal surface area as water flows through the media. Because PFOS is more difficult to remove than many common taste-and-odor contaminants, the quality of the carbon media, adequate bed depth and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can treat all fixtures in a Dills home without relying on multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter mounts on the main water line so every faucet and fixture in your Dills residence gets treated water; sizing for peak household flow and timely media replacement are key to consistent PFOS reduction. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a whole-house carbon setup matched to your plumbing and usage for PFOS, and periodic testing before and after installation provides extra assurance that the system is performing as expected.
