PFOS in East Mims Florida Water

Unhealthy Levels of PFOS in the Water Supply of East Mims Florida Homes

PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can show up in drinking water and it’s very persistent in the environment. Because it doesn’t break down readily, small amounts introduced over time can remain in a water supply. East Mims homeowners often hear about PFOS from local water reports, neighbors, or private testing. If you’re worried, the sensible first steps are confirming what’s in your water with a test and choosing treatment that specifically targets PFAS like PFOS.

PFOS doesn’t produce an obvious taste or smell the way chlorine or sulfur can, so you can’t rely on sight or smell to judge risk at the faucet. It’s typically considered a long-term exposure issue rather than an acute nuisance. For residents of East Mims — where many homes rely on groundwater and plumbing can face mineral scaling in the humid subtropical climate — treating water at the point it enters the house protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout the home.
