Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in water because it does not break down easily. Over time, even small sources can lead to ongoing presence in a system, so homeowners typically hear about PFOS from local reports, news, or private well and municipal testing. In Eden — where some properties are on municipal supply and others use private wells, and water hardness is moderate — the sensible next step is to confirm what’s in your water and pick a treatment that specifically targets PFAS.
PFOS doesn’t affect taste or smell the way chlorine or sulfur might, so you can’t rely on your senses to know if it’s present. That makes it a long-term exposure concern rather than an obvious nuisance. For many Eden households, the most practical choice is treating water at the point it enters the house so drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry all receive the same protection.
The most effective single filter type for whole-house PFOS reduction is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large internal surface area as water flows through. Because PFOS can be tougher to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, bed depth and proper flow rates are important — especially in Eden homes where service conditions differ between municipal and private well connections.
A whole-house GAC filter installs on your main water line so every faucet in your Eden home is treated; it should be sized for your peak flow and maintained with scheduled media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a carbon configuration suited to PFOS and your home’s plumbing and moderate water hardness, and we also suggest periodic before-and-after testing to confirm the system is performing as expected.
