Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one member of the PFAS family that can persist in water and the environment for a long time. Because it doesn’t break down readily, small introductions can remain present over extended periods. Ensley homeowners typically hear about PFOS through utility reports, local news, or a private home water test; if it’s a concern in your household, the next step is confirming what’s in your water and selecting treatment designed for PFAS removal.
PFOS won’t usually change the taste, smell, or appearance of your water, so you can’t rely on senses to judge whether it’s present in Ensley plumbing. It’s generally treated as a long-term exposure issue rather than an immediate nuisance. A sensible way to protect your family is to treat water at the point of entry so filtered water is used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout your home.
The most effective single filter type for whole-house PFOS reduction is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system designed for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a large internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS can be tougher to remove than common taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, bed depth, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can treat an entire Ensley home without needing multiple under-sink filters.
A whole-house GAC filter is installed on the main water line so every faucet and fixture in your Ensley home receives treated water; it should be sized for peak flow and maintained with timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can help specify a whole-house carbon configuration suited for PFOS control and your home’s plumbing and usage. If you’d like extra assurance, we recommend periodic testing before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance.
