Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is a type of PFAS that can persist in the environment and sometimes shows up in drinking water supplies. Because it breaks down very slowly, even occasional inputs can result in ongoing presence in a system. Fairfield homeowners usually hear about PFOS from local water reports, community news, or private testing, and the sensible next step is to confirm what’s in your own water and choose treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
Unlike chlorine or other taste-and-odor issues, PFOS usually can’t be seen or smelled, which makes it hard to assess risk by looking at your tap water. It’s generally treated as a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate nuisance. For Fairfield homes, a practical option is whole-house treatment at the point of entry so reduction covers drinking, cooking, bathing and laundry throughout the house.
For reducing PFOS throughout the home, the most effective single filter type is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system designed for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a large internal surface area as water flows through the media. Because PFOS can be more difficult to remove than simple taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, bed depth and proper flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can protect every tap in your Fairfield home without relying on multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is mounted on the main water line so all fixtures and faucets get treated water; it should be sized for your household peak flow and maintained with timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can help Fairfield homeowners choose a carbon configuration suited for PFOS and your plumbing layout. If you’d like extra assurance, periodic testing before and after installation will confirm the system’s ongoing performance.
