Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is a member of the PFAS family that can linger in water and resist natural breakdown, so small releases can remain in a supply for a long time. Freemont homeowners usually first hear about PFOS through local water reports, news, or a private test of their tap water. If you’re worried about PFOS in your Freemont home, the practical next steps are confirming what’s present with testing and selecting a treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
Unlike chlorine or other taste-and-odor problems, PFOS generally has no smell or visible signs, so you can’t rely on sight or scent to judge whether it’s in your water. Because PFOS is mainly a long-term exposure issue rather than an obvious nuisance, treating water where it enters your Freemont house is often the most effective way to protect drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry from possible contamination.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) media formulated for PFAS is the single most effective choice. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface area as water flows through the filter. Since PFOS is more difficult to remove than many taste-and-odor contaminants, the effectiveness depends on media quality, sufficient bed depth, and correct flow rates — all factors we consider when specifying a whole-house system for a Freemont residence.
A whole-house GAC system is fitted on the main water line so every fixture in your Freemont home gets treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction you’ll want a system sized for your peak flow and routine media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can help choose a whole-house carbon configuration that matches your plumbing and usage for reliable PFOS reduction, and periodic before-and-after testing gives added assurance the system is performing as expected.
