Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one member of the PFAS family that can linger in the environment and resist natural breakdown. Because it persists, small inputs can remain in a water supply for a long time. Harper homeowners typically hear about PFOS on water reports, local news, or after a private test; if you’re worried, the best next step is to confirm what’s in your water and pick a treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS doesn’t change the taste, smell, or appearance of tap water the way chlorine or sediment can, so you can’t rely on senses to know whether it’s present. That’s why households in Harper take a precautionary approach and consider whole-house treatment: treating water at the main line protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry rather than only individual taps.
The single most effective whole-house option for PFOS is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS removal. GAC captures PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large internal surface as water flows through. Because PFOS is more stubborn than common taste-and-odor issues, the performance depends on media quality, sufficient bed depth, and correct flow rates — factors we size for Harper homes to treat the entire house without relying on multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC unit mounts on your main supply so every faucet and fixture in Harper receives treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction you need correct sizing for peak household flow and timely media replacements. Mr. Pure Water can recommend a GAC configuration matched to your plumbing and usage, and we also suggest periodic testing before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance.
