Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in the environment and sometimes shows up in drinking water because it breaks down very slowly. Over time small releases can mean the contaminant remains in a water supply, which is why local reports, news, or a private test often alert Hicoria residents to the possibility. If you’re worried about PFOS in your Hicoria home, the sensible next steps are confirming what’s in your water and choosing a treatment that specifically targets PFAS compounds.
PFOS doesn’t change the look, taste, or smell of water the way chlorine or rust might, so you can’t rely on your senses at the kitchen sink to detect it. Because it’s primarily a long-term exposure concern rather than an immediate nuisance, many Hicoria homeowners prefer to reduce risk at the point where water enters the house so treated water is used for drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system engineered for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing the compound onto its large internal surface as water flows through; because PFOS can be more difficult to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor contaminants, the performance depends on media quality, sufficient bed depth, and correct flow rates. A properly sized whole-house GAC setup can protect every fixture in a Hicoria home without needing multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is plumbed on the main water line so all taps in your Hicoria home receive treated water; to maintain reliable PFOS reduction the system should match your household peak flow and have media replaced on schedule. Mr. Pure Water can help pick a whole-house carbon configuration suited to PFOS control that fits your plumbing and usage patterns, and we recommend periodic testing before and after installation to confirm the system continues to perform.
