Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water and the environment for a very long time. Because it doesn’t break down easily, small releases can lead to ongoing presence in a water source over time. Many Homestead Ridge homeowners first hear about PFOS from a utility report, local news, or from private water testing. If you’re worried about PFOS in your house, the smart next step is to confirm what’s in your water and choose a treatment that specifically targets PFAS.
PFOS won’t usually change the taste, smell, or appearance of your water, so it’s not something you can detect at the tap. That makes it hard to judge by eye, and PFOS is generally considered a long-term exposure issue rather than an immediate nuisance. For Homestead Ridge homes, a practical solution is to treat water where it enters the property so filtration protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout the house.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter type is high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) formulated for PFAS removal. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS is more difficult to remove than common taste-and-odor compounds, the quality of the carbon, bed depth, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can protect the entire Homestead Ridge home without the need for multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC filter is installed on the main water line so every faucet and fixture in your Homestead Ridge home receives treated water. To maintain PFOS reduction, the system must be sized for your household’s peak flow and serviced with timely media changeouts. Mr. Pure Water can help recommend a whole-house carbon setup that fits your plumbing and usage patterns, and periodic water testing before and after installation can confirm the system’s ongoing performance.
