Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one of the PFAS chemicals that can persist in drinking water because it breaks down very slowly. Over time small releases can remain in a supply, so homeowners commonly encounter PFOS information through water reports, local news, or private testing. If you live in Johnson Crossroad and are worried about PFOS in your water, the next step is to confirm your sample results and pick a treatment method that specifically targets PFAS.
PFOS won’t change the way your water tastes or looks the way chlorine or sediment might, so you can’t rely on senses to know if it’s present. Because it’s typically a long-term exposure issue, many Johnson Crossroad families prefer treating water at the point it enters the house so all uses — drinking, cooking, showering, and laundry — receive the same protection.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto the media’s large internal surface as water flows through. PFOS is tougher to remove than ordinary taste-and-odor contaminants, so media quality, bed depth and correct flow rates are important; a properly sized whole-house GAC unit will treat an entire Johnson Crossroad home without needing many under-sink filters.
A whole-house GAC filter is fitted on the main water line so every fixture in your Johnson Crossroad home gets treated water. To maintain consistent PFOS reduction the system must match your peak flow needs and have media replaced on schedule. Mr. Pure Water can help select the right whole-house carbon setup for PFOS that suits your plumbing and usage, and we recommend periodic testing before and after installation to confirm ongoing performance.
