Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is one member of the PFAS family that can persist in the environment and resist natural breakdown. Because it can remain for long periods, small, repeated releases may lead to a continuing presence in a water supply. Jupiter Farms homeowners typically hear about PFOS from local water reports, community news, or private well testing; the sensible next steps are confirming what’s in your water and choosing a treatment that specifically targets PFAS like PFOS.
PFOS won’t change the look, taste, or smell of your water the way chlorine sometimes does, so it can be hard to judge by observation alone. It’s generally considered a long-term exposure issue rather than an immediate nuisance, which is why many Jupiter Farms residents opt to treat water at the point it enters the house. Whole-house treatment protects drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry throughout properties that often have larger lots and outdoor irrigation needs.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter type is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) system formulated for PFAS. GAC removes PFOS by adsorbing it onto a very large internal surface as water flows through the media. Because PFOS can be tougher to remove than routine taste-and-odor compounds, media quality, bed depth, and correct flow rates are important—especially in hard-water areas like much of Palm Beach County. A properly sized whole-house GAC unit can treat the entire home without depending on multiple under-sink devices.
A whole-house GAC filter is fitted on the main water line so every faucet and fixture in a Jupiter Farms home receives treated water; sizing should match peak household flow and consider outdoor irrigation usage. To maintain PFOS reduction, follow recommended media replacement intervals and service schedules. Mr. Pure Water can suggest a carbon configuration tailored for PFOS that fits your plumbing and hard-water conditions, and periodic before-and-after testing can confirm the system’s ongoing performance.
