Including filter system and high-performance PFOS filter.
PFOS is a member of the PFAS family that can linger in water and the environment because it breaks down very slowly. Even low, repeated inputs can lead to a lasting presence in a drinking-water supply. Kent Mill residents typically learn about PFOS from local water testing, utility reports, or news stories; if you’re worried, the sensible first steps are to confirm what your home’s water contains and choose a treatment that targets PFAS compounds specifically.
PFOS won’t change the taste, smell, or appearance of your water, so you can’t rely on your senses to know whether it’s present. Because the concern is usually about long-term exposure rather than an immediate nuisance, many homeowners in Kent Mill prefer to treat water as it enters the house so drinking, cooking, bathing, and laundry are all covered.
For whole-house reduction of PFOS, the most effective single filter is a high-capacity granular activated carbon (GAC) media specifically formulated for PFAS removal. GAC works by adsorbing PFOS onto its large internal surface area as water flows through; because PFOS is more difficult to remove than simple taste-and-odor contaminants, media quality, sufficient bed depth, and correct flow rates are important. A properly sized whole-house GAC system can treat all taps in a Kent Mill home without needing multiple under-sink units.
A whole-house GAC system is plumbed on the main water line so every fixture in your Kent Mill home receives treated water; to maintain PFOS reduction you’ll want the system sized for your peak flow and to perform media changeouts on schedule. Mr. Pure Water can help recommend a whole-house carbon configuration suited to PFOS concerns and to your home’s plumbing and usage, and periodic water testing before and after installation provides reassurance that the system continues to perform.
